Consented brings you ‘Reframing Environmentalism’, an event aimed at highlighting the intersections between race, gender, colonialism, capitalism and the looming ecological disaster. The event will be split into two panels and will link the environmental movement to contemporary political discussions.

Our first panel titled ‘Decolonising Environmentalism’ will explore how histories of colonialism have been erased from contemporary environmental discussions, racist mainstream environmental narratives, as well as the neo-imperial nature of resource extraction.

The second panel ‘Reframing Environmentalism’ will critically examine the ways in which we need to reframe the environmental movement in order to revert the current environmental crisis. We will try to pose some “solutions” as well as debunking the narratives surrounding “green capitalism”. Panellists will discuss activism, the ‘movement’, the future of cities and technology and consumption/inequality.
