Bad Music Seminar 3—Sex, Murder, Politics

A presentation and conversation about bad music that includes vinyl records with erotic or murderous content. The term “bad” is a tool to get at a heterogeneous group of records some of which is as far outside the mainstream as music can be.
This is music that’s ‘bad’ from the perspective of any conventional success.
Through some fault in its DNA, through geographical remoteness, accidents of social networks, or through self-imposed obscurity this music has been overlooked, music has been classified as outsider music, or has been ignored as non-canonical. 
In the main part too peculiar or isolated to form new paradigms, this music often has great qualities that accompany its significant deficiencies. 
This seminar throws some light on these remarkable records as a way to push back at the surfeit of commercial sameness that surrounds us.
