The work for the exhibition Endears me yet remains, was made over a five year period while travelling, working and performing with the Lisbon-based band If Lucy Fell and their subsequent projects.
The show inhabited all three gallery spaces at Focal Point Gallery with a text installation in the corridor of all the dates and venues where I filmed the bands, an installation of video tapes, polaroids records and cds in the display cabinets, a three part video projection 500hours in Gallery 2 and a video projection and large scale black and white landscape photographs in the darkened space of Gallery 1.
For the launch of the exhibition at Southend we performed Jemima Films If lucy fell 2014 one of a series of ongoing performance works made with the band. They made a new composition which they performed live at the opening and which I filmed in a single unedited take of the musicians playing. During the event the film was simultaneously projected into the public space of the square outside the gallery so as to divide the space of the live event and the representation of it. This same video was later projected onto the end of Gallery 1 illuminating the large scale black and white photographs, depicting close ups of scorched Portuguese grasses.
