The Boxer is a live performance that was commissioned by David Robert Arts Foundation as part of An Evening of Performances at Kentish Town Forum in London on 2 October 2018. The performance was realised in conversation with Fatoş Üstek and Olivia Leahy.

The Boxer proposes the intimate moment of sharing physical and mental wounds as a possibility to create non-oppressive social relations. This intimate moment is being explored through physical encounters between performers, sculptures and audience and when such encounters become publicly shared images through a live-streamed projection. Bodies, present as people and sculptures and then as images, are understood both as fragile and strong. They always remain a representation - on stage, amongst the audience and on screen - while never giving up suggesting live-ness. Wounds of a soldier and of a ballet dancer as well as a meeting with Theodor W. Adorno in the mountains imagined by Paul Celan become The Boxer’s memories.

The Boxer includes performers, sculptures, a boxing ring, pre-recorded and live video projection.
