[Article]
An article commissioned by Frieze magazine on the history of queer, class and race politics of nightclub culture and it's representation in the arts, particularly the Weimar Berlin, the Harlem Renaissance, Gay Liberation and queer culture today. Although historical in structure the article is more theoretical, looking at the tensions between recent theorists writing about the club as a utopian space as opposed to liberation arguments that this is a place of commodification etc.
