A Comparative Study on the Expression of Traditional Handicrafts and Urban Culture between Shanghai and London 上海—伦敦传统手工艺与城市文化品牌表达比 较研究

The cultural heritage of a region is built on the distinctive characteristics of its local history and culture, which in turn forms an expression of regional identity. In this article, a comparison is made between Shanghai and London in order to review the history of urban cultural expression and representation, using traditional handicrafts as the lens through which to view urban cultural identity and cultural heritage protection. The aim of the paper is to make a contribution to the promotion, branding and marketisation of the creative dynamics of these respective cities.
