Canvas(s) was a participatory arts project exploring access to cultural spaces with young people from refugee backgrounds. It set out to explore how a partnership of small organisations and independent practitioners, sharing a common concern with upholding and defending human rights, develop new insights and methods to improve access for young people from refugee backgrounds at a large cultural institution. The one-year project consisted of creative workshops, research visits, an audio guide for the National Gallery collection co-produced by young refugee, a number of conference presentations sharing project learning.
