In artistic and curatorial processes there are tactical and strategic intentions, perspectives and effects. I argue that curating is a strategic long-term research and planning process that involves institutional, as well as artistic, agenda’s. In contrast, art practice is mostly tactical, which enables it to be responsive, fluid, flexible and, perhaps, less accountable. But, if we define curatorial strategy as institutional power and art-tactics as the resistance to it, where does the collaboration between strategists and tacticalists take place? How do artists and curators work together?
