An exploration of some of the darker, more experimental music produced in New Zealand form the 1980s in proximity to the Flying Nun record label. Critiquing notions of the Dunedin Sound, this chapter presents music making in the south island of New Zealand on the fringes of Flying Nun not as a utopia but a 'disutopia', using the concept developed by Antonio Negri.
