Women of the '20s

Group exhibition at Belmacz Gallery, 45 Davies Street W1K 4LX, London (October 5th to 22nd December 2023). Artists: Coco Crampton, Agata Madejska, Hanna Mattes, Devin T. Mays, Sadie Murdoch, Lydia Ourahmane with Daniel Blumberg, Ronit Porat, Anna Wachsmuth and Ines Weizman.

From press release: "Belmacz’s Autumn 2023 exhibition, Women of the ’20s celebrates artistic practices that jazz the known. Echoing the radical freedom often associated with the ‘twenties,’ a sense of innovation, desire and sparky new found life, the artists ensembled [sic] here each utilise processes of subversion in order to shake up ways of seeing." The project highlights the key roles played by women, trans and queer artists in expanding the photographic into the performative, the acoustic and the reparative. The participants in Women of the ‘20s propose that the first two decades of recent centuries share technological, material and corporeal radicality in the drive for cultural renewal.
