Group Exhibition at Villa Les Zéphyrs, Westende, Belgium. Curated by Isolde De Buck, the exhibition included artists Sadie Murdoch, Hedwig Brouckaert, Hadassah Emmerich, Hans Op de Beeck, Johan Creten, Thomas Lerooy, Hans Demeulenaere and Samyra Moumouh, Maaike Leyn, Sarah Yu Zeebroek, Deogracias Kihalu and Sharon Van Overmeiren. The 1922 Villla contains original features and interior designs by Henri van de Velde and is administered by the municipality of Westende. The curator notes: "A rhapsody is a piece of music in which contrasting parts nevertheless form a unity. The mood swings of the rhapsody are also characteristic of the period in which George Gershwin's piece 'Rhapsody in Blue' was written, in 1924, a few years after the First World War. The wild 1920s, the jazz age, were the time of exuberant partying after the world fire, but also of mourning and reflection for the loss, for the suffering suffered. We also get to know this contrast today. A hundred years later, we ourselves are unwittingly extras in a rhapsody in which moods quickly shift between resignation, hope and protest. We alternate between exuberance and modesty in Gershwin's music and epoch as well as in the present day".
