Il mio incontro con il CAVA (My encounter with CAVA)

On the second day of the event serie SEMPRE+CAVA, the vernissage of a site-specific video installation, "Il mio incontro con il CAVA", featuring previously unreleased footage of an interview by Eleonora Oreggia made with Osvaldo Cavandoli in his studio 20 years ago, in December 2002. The interview is integral part of the book "Il segno audiovisivo".

The video was projected exactly where it was filmed, and the space was recreated to give the viewer the impression of sitting in front of the artist 20 years ago. It did feel as if CAVA was back in his studio, picking up the phone and laughing with his friends. There were also recordings of the voice of Massimo Maisetti, founder of ISCA (Institute for the Study and Research of Animated Film), who popped to wish CAVA merry Christmas and lightened the space with jokes.

There was something ritualistic in the work, playing with time and space and the power of the voice...
