Nanarchy: Your Grandmother Saves the World with Jigsaws, Canned Soup and a Teapot
A participatory sequel to scripted performance 'Nanarchy: Nana Violet Saves the World', this 2 day interactive project invites members of the public attending End Expo at Bauhaus Museum Dessau to come up with inventive protest tactics based on their grandparents' hobbies. The work responds to the UK's Public Order Bill which limits protest and calls for more creative tactics, notably tactics used by Just Stop Oil which were also hobbies of Louise's late Nana Violet (jigsaws, canned soup, confetti, walking slowly, disrupting musical theatre). Based on a stand-up comedy style performance I did earlier, this version lets you submit your own grandparents’ treasures in drawing form, as we discuss how they might be used as protest tools.
All-weekend event in a huge yellow inflatable Bauhaus tent. This performance was commissioned for End Expo: A Consumer Fair for Mortals at Bauhaus Museum Dessau, organised by Association for the Palliative Turn, an international collective of artists, academics, comedians and medical professionals who rethink culture through the principals of palliative care, because business as usual isn't working. 18-19 May 2024.
