Slide–tape: Key Work in the UK since the 1960s
First Memory (1980) will be re-mounted in its original medium of slide-tape with two screens.
‘Slide-tape’ examines an overlooked art practice in a time-based media that was used largely by women artists during the 1980s. The main outcome of the project will be group exhibition to launch in Birmingham and tour to London, with discussion events programmed in Birmingham and London and supported by a substantial publication. Through this project, we aim to place the radical work of the 1980s at the centre of recent British art history, rather than at its margins.
Curated and researched by Mary White with participating artists Black Audio Film Collective, Nina Danino, Cordelia Swann, (and 3 others to be confirmed)
The show will re-mount invited original works in their original medium.
There will also be a programme of screened films by Lis Rhodes, Annabel Nicholson, Peter Gidal and others to be confirmed.
