This article undertakes a detailed reading of the work of Richard Sennett in order to provide some original reflections on the ongoing politics and sociology of 'creative labour'. The paper argues for perspectives which de-mystify creative labour and which offer a stronger valuation for ordinary work, which require skill and craft (Pace Sennett) but which also, in a feminist vein elevate the importance of care-work.
