[Conference or Workshop Item]
An invited speaker to the Sounds of Design History, a Design History Society Teaching and Learning Workshop, I presented a paper which examined and explored contemporary media landscapes of academic knowledge production through the question of posed by the organiser of 'Was there a moment wherein you found this method of making radio of research practice particularly fruitful?'.
In answering this question, I draw on the experience of interviewing Mike Dibb and Richard Hollis about making the TV programme and book Ways of Seeing with John Berger; of the academic conference circuit; of the declining, ever declining status of the arts; and of the contemporary challenges to the discourses of expertise and expert knowledge.
