Stop Aquind - Eastney and Milton Allotments
A short film that documents members of the Let's Stop Aquind group at Eastney and Milton Allotments in Portsmouth. Participants reflect on the likely impact of a proposed electrical interconnector on their community garden, and discuss the formation and approaches of their ultimately successful community activism.
Renewable energy infrastructures are part of the mix of measures needed to meet ambitions of COP26. However, infrastructures have impacts on communities and landscapes and so despite the importance of the climate agenda, the delivery of measures can be complex. The AQUIND interconnector is particularly controversial, provoking activism from French (Non a Aquind) and UK (Let’s Stop Aquind) communities living where the undersea cable makes landfall.
