Holdings (2020-23)
During the C-19 pandemic, I started making curved hand-sized forms from air dried clay which I then sanded and smoothed almost to breaking point. Most are punched with holes, and some are scarified.
Despite their delicacy they are meant be held as much as seen. Ideally, (be)holders would give these objects the time they need to evoke whatever-might-wish-to-emerge from within or without, an intermixing, no doubt, of sensations, perceptions, thoughts, memories, musings, movement, actions ...
In terms of their making and their title - 'Holdings' - engagements with materialism and possession are also at issue --- the virtues of holding lightly.
They were exhibited as part of Behold (a Group Show about touch) held at Hypha Studios, London, curated by Sasha Galitzine with Graham Little.
