What is Autohoodening?
The Post Workers Theatre project Autohoodening, was included in the 2023 book “Animal Guising and the Kentish Hooden Horse by James Frost. Accompanying the exhibition at Maidstone Museum in 2023, Frost’s comprehensive book is the first of its kind to showcase the Hooden Horse tradition of East Kent in relation to wider animal guising customs, connecting the past with present revival groups. The book includes both a chapter dedicated to Autohoodening and how the old tradition was reimagined to address precarious working conditions in the gig-economy, as well as a script of an Autohoodening play performed at the accompanying exhibition April 2023.
