Here/Then

This project documented the return to campus in the wake of the 2019 pandemic, capturing staff and students in a group photo.

In her role as co-director of Autofoto, an analogue photography studio, Quin brought an analogue photobooth to the design department in June 2021. Staff and students experimented with the format creating new and surreal forms of image.

These images were exhibited and then used to create a primer publication to invite all design department staff and students in academic year 2021-22 to take part in a collective photo.

The collective photograph took place over 2021-22, in a slowly growing exhibition, eventually made up of over 400 photos, showing a community of people that had been disconnected since the pandemic. It also introduced this analogue format to a generation that have not known or experienced analogue photo booths before.

These photographs were archived and are now destined for the Womens Art Library at Goldsmiths. A publication with over 200 pieces of written reflection from those featured in the portrait is in the process of being made into a publication.
