Here/Then: Photographic Archive
This archive box contains 430 black and white analogue photo strips of staff and students of the design department, that together formed a year-long group portrait between 2021-22, at Goldsmiths.
Signed on the back, the photographs capture their return to campus after the pandemic - a transition from online, digital space, to in-person, physical, analogue space, using an analogue form of image capture. This archive is due to enter the Goldsmiths Library, to be kept as a memory of this time.
A forthcoming publication, Here/Then: Recollections, gathers over 200 pieces of writing from staff and students featured in the archive, who reflect on their experience of being Here (at Goldsmiths, in real space), Then (shortly after the pandemic). The writing captures a social history of this community, stories of education and learning, and personal experience.
