Looking for the Exhibition in all the Wrong Places

This papers questions the way in which exhibitions are being historicised, often relying on the narratives provided by curators and participating artists alone and the archival traces accumulated in institutional settings. It argues for a writing of exhibition histories that looks at less obvious voices and documents, one that serves to problematize, rather than reinforce, the very definition of what constitutes an art exhibition today.
