The London Festival of Baroque Music 2015 has chosen the theme of Women In Baroque Music. The programming celebrates the feminine presence in works composed by women, for women, and inspired by women. Dr Berta Joncus is a Senior Lecturer in Music at Goldsmiths, University of London. She explains what women of the time were up against in order to get their music out into the public sphere and how these challenges shaped their distinctive contribution to performance and composing
