Blueprints: towards teaching fashion with care
Using pattern drafting as a starting point, the workshop used a designed digitally printed template cloth and unconventional and accessible cyanotype print methods that allowed a group of fashion practitioners and educators to make one collective garment pattern without being alienated from each other. It explored ways to nurture community in fashion academia and ways to make the materiality of fashion accessible for those without technical training.
The workshop was part of State of Fashion Biennale in the Netherlands and conference Ways of Caring Practicing Solidarity organised by Artez Fashion Professorship. The fashion professorship at Artez University initiates theoretical and practice-based research projects that investigate the pressing issues within fashion.
