A book-length essay on time, loss and repetition under an extended, capitalist modernity written in fragments and digressions that thread cultural criticism, family memoir and life writing. The book, in weaved threads, discusses the inheritance of political family histories between Libya, Syria and the north of England, and engages critically with culture through the the eruption of the past in the present as evoked in fashion, music, film, politics, psychoanalysis and beyond. Between October and November continues to think through the continued preoccupation with "what has not become history", redeeming past revolutionary legacies for the future, the contradictions of tradition, destruction, and novelty, and finally mourning and the mediation of memory.
