The Potent Object Laboratory

In this experimental laboratory Alexa Reid worked with artist/participants to examine the potential for objects as the dramaturgical instigators for developing performance actions. The laboratory drew upon Sophocles’ Antigone as a stimulus and the work and methods of seminal Polish Theatre Director and Artist Tadeusz Kantor. This laboratory was conducted on Zoom, in domestic spaces between the UK and Sicily and culminated in a durational virtual happening. The experiments developed for this laboratory informed TRAGODIA Atto III – "La Regina" – directed by Andrea Cusumano, Associazione Culturale MeNO, Sicily – October 2021.
