Archive of Impossible Objects: Globes
Exhibition of ‘Archive of Impossible Objects: Globes’ at MUDAC Lausanne, originally commissioned by Kunstmuseen Krefeld (2019).
“As a domestic object, the globe is almost a form of kitsch, but its status as one of the oldest conceptual models of our world, made physical, remains fascinating. Rather than focusing on one world, ours, the project makes other worlds tangible: from literature, amateur thought experiments and the fringes of science. Each globe represents different kinds of imaginations, all co-existing, jostling for room within one space.” – Text by Dunne & Raby
Outcomes of the project include a set of fiberglass globes and framed topographical maps.
‘Space is the Place’ at MUDAC focused on the complex relationship between the cosmos and our planet. Bringing together the work of designers, artists and science fiction writers, as well as a wide range of stakeholders in these issues, the programme included two exhibitions, three publications and a series of events.
