Exhibition of ‘Archive of Impossible Objects: Globes’, originally commissioned by Kunstmuseen Krefeld (2019).
“As a domestic object, the globe is almost a form of kitsch, but its status as one of the oldest conceptual models of our world, made physical, remains fascinating. Rather than focusing on one world, ours, the project makes other worlds tangible: from literature, amateur thought experiments and the fringes of science. Each globe represents different kinds of imaginations, all co-existing, jostling for room within one space.” – Text by Dunne & Raby
Outcomes of the project include a set of fiberglass globes and framed topographical maps.
While artificial intelligence appears to have invaded all the industrial fields of the contemporary world, from finance to medicine, games to behaviour, architecture and the military, this situation has never really been linked to the history of neuro-science and neuro-computation. The exhibition ‘Neurons, Simulated Intelligences’ highlights the links between the research of artists, architects, designers and musicians, and that by major scientific laboratories or the industrial sector.
