The chapter examines the Arctic’s intricate landscapes of sensing instruments and infrastructures, focusing in particular on several key research stations visited and documented by Sailer. The piece contends with ways in which these technologies are caught in a complex web of conflicting forces: an escalating climate crisis, growing geopolitical tensions, a race for resource extraction, and a bid for greater environmental protections.
